That limestone is the reason we are here. Uranium inside it decays, one of the decay products is radon gas, and the gas migrates up through soil and fractures until it finds a building.

At 873 feet, Lenexa is the lowest-lying of Johnson County’s five biggest cities. Why does Lenexa have a radon problem?
